Chief Executive Officer
Joseph Sharp founded Sharp Innovations, Inc. in 1999 with a desire to avoid simply doing "business as usual" in the burgeoning field of Internet marketing. To that end, he pioneered the creation of a comprehensive system to guide clients through the seemingly complex stages of website development. That original system was integral to the successful launch of literally hundreds of websites over more than a decade, and has since evolved into an even more streamlined and efficient process that remains a key part of what makes Sharp Innovations unique in the industry today.
Joe directs the sales, marketing and overall strategic management for Sharp Innovations and works closely with all new clients to ensure their communications and business objectives are met. And while serving his clients is job #1, Joe strives for a life of balance in being a source of inspiration, encouragement and giving to his fellow man. His spiritual faith is extremely important to him, and he attributes his strong faith in God as the driving force for his professional and personal achievements.
Currently residing in Lancaster and a graduate of Millersville University, Joe enjoys athletics, coaching, leadership activities, writing, drawing, creative projects, outdoor activities, dancing and music. He also volunteers for various local community service organizations as well as his local church, and aspires to participate in missions work on a global scale.

As the President of Sharp Innovations, Inc., Paul applies over a decade of print and interactive marketing experience to help clients find the most effective ways to reach their target audiences. While highly detail-oriented, Paul’s ability to see the big picture allows him to effectively manage both the creative and technical teams at Sharp Innovations, and his familiarity with both online and offline marketing practices also gives him a uniquely holistic approach to Website planning and development.
When not involved in project management or site planning, Paul also enjoys the challenge of creating compelling content for client websites and marketing materials. His writing career began with editing and contributing articles for a magazine about Porsches, but his time spent developing brand platforms and marketing campaigns for several Fortune 500 companies gave him the experience necessary to help build brands and create successful communications for all types of clients.
Paul graduated from the College of Communications at the Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Advertising and Public Relations. He resides in Lancaster with his wife, Christina, twin daughters Rinah and Tovah, four cats, and one very large goldfish. In his spare time, Paul writes for and is the Sr. Editor of the world's most popular Nerf website, and divides his remaining time among all things related to cars, video games, and electronics.

VP, Development and Technology
As one of the original team members at Sharp Innovations, Bob McMullen has seen it all. Having risen through the ranks to become VP of Development and Technology, Bob has worked with clients of all types, been a hands-on developer for projects of varying sizes, and has diagnosed solutions to problems from the simple to the seemingly insurmountable.
It’s this combination of wide-ranging experience and Bob’s reassuringly temperate demeanor that give him a unique ability to quickly understand a client’s needs and help them determine the right solution for their application. And when he’s not on the front-lines with clients, Bob is also involved in project planning, management and maintenance of our servers, and oversight and direction of the Sharp Innovations technical staff.
Bob graduated from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology with a degree in Computer and Networking Systems Administration. He currently resides in Willow Street and enjoys playing softball, volleyball, and bowling. In his spare time, Bob might also be found organizing his extensive baseball card collection or playing through any of his collection of legacy video games.

Years of hands-on marketing and ad agency experience make Steve Adams, our Director of Client Strategies, uniquely suited to helping our clients develop elegant solutions to challenging business problems.
Steve is a successful entrepreneur with a varied business background. He leverages these experiences and achievements to help Sharp Innovations create effective marketing strategies for small and medium-size businesses and other organizations. His business insight and marketing understanding are critical to the process of developing strategies for growth that are both collaborative and customer-centric in nature.
Steve earned an MBA from Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business in Marketing, and received a BA in Business with a minor in Economics at Grove City College. He is an avid reader of non-fiction business and faith-based books, newsletters, blogs and enjoys listening-in on leadership and business-focused podcasts. He also enjoys cross-fit training, golf, and photography. As a volunteer mentor at SCORE Lancaster, Steve assists entrepreneurs in navigating their way through the challenges of small business start-up and growth. Steve currently resides in Lancaster.

Karl Diffenderfer comes from a long-line of business-building entrepreneurs. And while Karl has worked in many different industries, he has spent the last decade perfecting the art of marketing businesses successfully, and learning there are few organizations truly doing it well. Karl believes that effective marketing looks at the pain or frustrations of the target audience and addresses those needs specifically. As a testament to this strategy, and through God’s blessings, Karl built a successful marketing company that generated millions of dollars in revenue.
Married since 2000 to his beautiful bride, Jillian, Karl is likewise blessed to have four lovely children. As a family-oriented person who cares deeply about his children’s’ future, Karl desires to continue becoming the best father and husband he can be, and to pass on this legacy to future generations. One of his long-term goals with his family is to travel to every state in the country!
Karl is an avid sports enthusiast and enjoys the thrill of trying new activities that stretch his mind, will, and strength. In 2013, he tried skydiving for the first time and not only survived—he reportedly enjoyed it! He also likes more down-to-earth sports like Ultimate Frisbee, Golf, Basketball, and Racquetball. Karl is a talented musician, having rocked-out in front of thousands of people, as well as competed in—and won—a classical piano performance on a national level. In his free time, you might find Karl playing in local bands, practicing a classical piano piece, enjoying outdoor sports, playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, or composing a new song on the piano or guitar.

Sharp Innovations, Inc. was founded as a sole proprietorship in March of 1999 by Joseph Sharp. The firm was established as a home-based business while the founder and his first employee, Nicholas Bird, completed their college educations. The hiring of Thomas Hopta in December of 1999 proved to be one of the most valuable decisions made by the young company. By the end of 1999, Sharp Innovations had already created highly-effective Web presences for forty clients in the U.S. and abroad. Sharp's original mission was to provide high quality marketing services to small companies for a reasonable price—a goal that remains true to this day!
2000 was an explosive year for Sharp Innovations. Joseph Sharp and Thomas Hopta worked together as strategic partners and the company grew from 40 clients to nearly 300. The company moved into its initial offices in Lancaster, PA, and the staff expanded from two employees to ten. Attracting attention all over the region, Sharp Innovations was featured in television, radio and newspapers across Pennsylvania. Feature articles were published on www.Internetday.com and Joseph Sharp was nominated for Central PA Entrepreneur of the Year. The company growth was fueled by an excellent company work ethic, unrivaled customer service and a strong economy.
The creative undertakings of Sharp Innovations needed reliable technological support, so 2001 brought an expansion of Sharp’s computer networking division. This move helped to cement the firm’s position as a small business technology solution provider that is dependable, reliable and affordable. To accommodate the exploding client base, Sharp Innovations re-formed as a corporation and continued to attract top-quality team members.
In 2002, Sharp Innovations, Inc. launched a trademarked Website development process called “From Concept to Solution™” This exciting new process was brought about by the experienced garnered from thousands of contacts and hundreds of client relationships, and helped to cement Sharp Innovations as a leader in Internet marketing.
The year 2003 brought with it new opportunities for Sharp Innovations to take on projects from publicly traded companies while sole proprietors, community organizations and other noteworthy corporations were turning to Sharp Innovations for its unmatched customer service, proven technology solutions, and energy-filled creativity.
Sharp Innovations was selected as an "Editor's Pick" by Marketingtool.com as distinguished Web specialists for PA, NJ, DE, MD and NY in 2003, as well as being named as "recommended Web development specialists" for the Philadelphia region on other forums such as Webdeveloperdirectory.com.
Sharp Innovations introduced a number of technological advancements, production processes and client services in 2004. Postini e-mail filtering, expanded Website content services and search engine optimization assistance services were all added to help serve the needs of Sharp’s varied customer base.
A re-designed discovery process helped Sharp Innovations ensure that each client's vision was brought to life, while expanded custom maintenance programs, continued Flash development and other programming advances allowed Sharp to provide services not offered by the industry at large.
In 2005, Sharp Innovations made several key advancements to further increase production and service capabilities for its growing and increasingly diverse client base. The refinement of the “From Concept to Solution™” process, as well as expanded capabilities of asp.net architecture skill sets, allowed the firm to better serve with more complex, dynamically driven Websites. The client portfolio of Sharp Innovations continued to grow throughout 2005 with the successful partnership of new key clients and drastic improvements to existing services creating opportunities for further growth.
From 2006 through much of 2008, a focus on building management depth brought new skill sets and a level of real-world experience not seen since the company’s inception. And with the new personnel came new opportunities to expand the company into related areas of marketing, which has long been a request of Sharp’s varied client base. This expansion into print marketing and Search Engine Optimization fields, in particular, has opened new doors and provided opportunities for both the growth of the firm and for the continuing business growth of its highly valued clients.
The latter part of 2008 through 2012 marked a period of renewed focus on helping clients achieve success in a volatile economy. By centralizing project management and removing barriers to development progress, the firm worked to reinforce its status as a premier Pennsylvania website design firm by streamlining processes and providing easier points of contact. An expansion of its support department has also helped to ensure fast turnaround times, while the Sharp Innovations management team continued to create strategic partnerships with companies that would aid in client success by providing services not offered by Sharp directly.
In 2013, a renewed focus was placed on our Internet marketing efforts--specifically, organic search engine optimization and social media marketing—including a full update to our suite of services, and an expansion of our Internet Marketing team.
In addition, on March 3rd, 2014, Sharp Innovations acquired “This Way Up! Marketing,” a website development and Internet marketing firm based in Lancaster, PA. With this acquisition, Sharp Innovations added key members of the This Way Up! staff, further increasing our ability to identify new opportunities in the market to help you grow your business, and also enabling us to add expanded video filming and editing services to our suite of marketing capabilities. We also added both an additional project manager and an application developer to our team, to further aid in our ability to provide high value, full service web development, Internet marketing and related services to our broad range of clientele.
